In 1885, Allegheny County legislation standardized the marriage license process. Prior to 1885, each city had its own requirements. Churches kept their own records. William and Annie's Marriage License is recorded in the City of Pittsburgh Marriage License Docket. It reads:
William McAdams Birthplace England, occupation Glass blower residence 5 Madison St., 12th Ward
Annie Wright Birthplace Pittsburgh residence 30th St., 12th Ward
Married at the residence of the officiating minister, Rev. John Scarborough, 138 Penn St., 4th Ward on
Jan 1, 1874
NOTES: William was the son of Robert and Mary Ann McAdams. Annie's sister, Sarah Wright married William's brother, Robert McAdams, Jr.
