James Tasker, born about 1785 in Oxfordshire, was tried at the Berkshire Assizes for stealing a pig. Found guilty, has was transported to Tasmania in 1820. He may have left a family behind in England, but he then married Mary Smythe who'd come from Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland in 1831 and they had 4 children. James Tasker, born about 1812 in Lancashire, married Margaret (or Mary) and had a son James in 1832. He married Mary Lingard in Leyland 1854, with son Thomas Tasker born two years later in Whittle-le-Woods, near Chorley. He went on to marry Martha Annie Broadbent and they emigrated to Australia, with daughter Mary Margaret Tasker born in 1885 in Ashfield, New South Wales. She went on to marry Thomas James Cobb, with many living relatives around the Sydney area.

Thomas Tasker, born in 1822 in Leeds, Yorkshire, married Elizabeth Nussey and emigrated to Australia with young sons James and Henry Buckton Tasker. They had four more children in Adelaide, before emigrating to New Zealand, where they had their final child, leaving relatives in all three countries.
