There must have been Taskers in India in the early 1800s, because one of them lent our name to an entire town. Tasker Town is a suburb of Bangalore, itself now the centre of India's 'Silicon Valley' and one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

Tasker Town became established in the mid 1850s, and is located between Shivijinagar and Queens Road, bordering Central Street and Infantry Road. Ronnie Johnson has some great photos of the houses here:
