Taskers in Cumbria

Cumbria – the historic counties of Cumberland and Westmorland – takes the prize for being the least Taskered part of England, according to the IGI. With just two records, and them both quite recent, clearly the fells of the Lake District were not attractive to ancient Taskers. In fact one of the two IGI records is not for England at all, as the 'Frances A Tasker of about 1730' is a record for Nomini in Westmorland, Virgina, USA, not Westmorland England at all.

This leaves Samuel Tasker, the son of Thomas Tasker and Rachel, who was christened at Windermere on 22 September 1850, as the sole Tasker in Cumbria.
