Tasker Family History - Herefordshire

Taskers in Herefordshire

The small group of 15 Herefordshire Taskers on the IGI form a strange mix, as there is an ancestral Tasker family in the mid 1500s, but then nothing until the mid 1800s. So what happened to the ancient ones? And where did the younger ones come from?

John and Eleanor Tasker living in Bromyard were the ancestral Taskers, christening son Richard on 15 September 1556 and daughter Sybil on 10 March 1559. Eleanor Tasker marrying Edward Bee in Bromyard on 21 June 1561 must have been some relation too – maybe John's sister? Or did John die, and Eleanor take a second husband? There's also a will in the Worcester Record Office for Richard Tasker of Tyberton, dated 1576. Was this the same Richard born in Bromyard? Time will tell...

Then in the mid 1800s come Taskers in Ross on Wye, Goodrich, Hereford and Hatfield. Some sorting out to be done here!
