Taskers in Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire is the fourth most Taskered county in England, from the 895 IGI records, but it is also the county with some of the oldest and most widespread Tasker families.
Before 1550 there were three Taskers, widely spread in central and northern Lincolnshire. Thomas Tascar had son William christened on 6 January 1543 at Brocklesby, just a few miles from the Humber. Further south another Thomas Tasker, born about 1550 in Wispington, married Janne Pearsonne on 16 June 1577, with daughter Isabell christened on 31 May 1578. This Thomas could be the ancestor of later Taskers in mid-Lincolnshire. Then near the east coast at Alford, Elizabeth Tasker married Humphrey Twidill on 24 Nov 1560.
In the period up to 1600 there were a host of other Taskers, some possibly related but others probably independent. In the centre of the county, Thomas Tasker was born about 1561 in West Ashby and married about 1585 with son William christened on 31 July 1586. These two seem likely to be related to Thomas of Wispington, just a few miles to the west. To the south-west of Wispington, Alice Tasker was christened in 1562 at Bucknall. Then at Thimbleby, between Bucknall and West Ashby, Jonathan Tasker was christened on 23 February 1594. A few miles south of Thimbleby and Bucknall, at Woodhall (now known as Woodhall Spa) Elizabeth Tasker was christened on 28 September 1597, at St Margaret's church.
To the south-east of these villages are the three neighbouring villages of Miningsby, Hareby and Lusby. The first IGI record there is Marye Tasker marrying William Barkworth at Miningsby on 26 November 1576. Then at Lusby John Tasker's daughter Margeret was christened on 5 March 1586, followed by William Tasker's children: Thomas in 1593, Elizabeth in 1597 and John (son of 'Willia Tascar') in1599. At Hareby, Thomas (born about 1595, so probably the one born in Lusby) married an unknown lady in about 1619. The William Tasker who married Margerit Gibson on 7 December 1588 at Stickford could well be the same one who had children in Lusby.
In the south of the county, Richard Tasker's son Richard was christened on 31 January 1562 at Corby (now known as Corby Glen). North of Lincoln, Robert Tasker married Marian Cann on 27 November 1574 at Ingham, with daughter Elizabeth christened on 7 October 1576. In south-east Lincolnshire, Thomas Taskar married Agnes Nunn in June 1576 at Long Sutton, with daughter Beatrice christened the following year. Just up the road at Holbeach, Damisine Tasker married George Daulton on 8 September 1593. And on the south-west border of the county, Henry Tasker's daughter Alice was christened in 1588, at St George's church, Stamford, with William Tasker's son Gilbert christened in 1589.
