Of the 51 Takers on the IGI for Northumberland, the odd thing is there are no records before 1700. Presumably all the Nothumberland Taskers are then incomers, moving to the area mainly from Yorkshire or Lancashire. However by the early 1800s there are Tasker families in Newcastle-on-Tyne, Woodhorn, Alnwick, Rothbury and Earsdon, giving a spread throughout the county.
