Taskers in Surrey

The earliest Surrey records on the IGI are from London, with Roger (or possibly Robert) Tasker, born about 1526, who married Jane Pope, and Thomas Tasker, christened on 1 November 1559 at St Andrew Hubbard with St Mary at Hill, London, whose father was also Thomas. The London Taskers are grouped together here.

For the rest of the county, there is a puzzling time gap in the 190 IGI records. There were two Taskers before 1600, then none until the early 1700s when there are several Tasker tribes extending through the 1800s and 1900s.

The earliest record is of Ann Tasker marrying Richard Scroffts on 30 April 1582, at Lingfield. Then on 27 September 1596 Henry Tusker (!) married Dorothy Botly at Crowhurst, a village only a couple of miles north of Lingfield. So was there an earlier Tasker family here, with Ann and Henry as children? And what happened to their children?
