29. Nancy Ann Stapleton

Source: E-mail from [email protected], 7/4/99

Cyrus Sackett Married Nancy Ann Stapleton in Bourbon Co. KY June 10, 1792
(Source..Marriage Record, State of KY, County of Bourbon)
Nancy is buried in the Primitive Baptist Cemetery, DD 9/18/1855
(Source..Greene Co. Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions Vol. 4, Compiled by The Greene
CO Chapter of the Ohio Geneal. Society, 1985, and Cemetery Tombstone
Inscriptions and Photographs of Selected Greene County, Ohio Pioneers from
the 1700s and 1800s, Compiled by Arthur R. Kilner, Xenia OH 1983, her actual
stone is photographed) Could it be that Primitive Baptist Cemetery and
Carmine Burying grounds are the same thing. I have a statement from Hazel
Deckens who was the granddaughter of Mercy Sackett, she states "Cyrus Sackett
was an earnest and devoted Christian, he joined the Regular (Old Style)
Baptist Church and afterwards went to what was known as Carmine's Church,
which stood on the site of the old burial ground one mile south of Bell
Brook. Both Cyrus and Nancy are buried in the Carmine Burying grounds."
The 1850 US Census for Greene Co. Ohio lists her birthplace as MD, I can not
find why I have in my records that the town was Baltimore.
So, does anyone have other stuff I do not.???

Nancy and Cyrus' daughter Aner Sackett Pogue is buried in Fletcher which is
just down the road from Bell Brook where Nancy and Cyrus are buried. Sorry I
mixed mother and daughter up abit. Happy 4th you all, Nora

I'm not convinced that Nancy was born in Rowan Co., NC. Her father
Joseph)probably died there in 1784, however the family had resided in MD
since the immigration of John Stapleton born c1686 Carleton, Yorkshire,
England. He died 1765 Baltimore. I'm not sure when the family moved south.
The IGI (now on-line) has Edward Stapleton (father of Joseph) as dying in
Rowan Co., NC 1780.

I have no proof of anything on this Stapleton line, just letting you know
what I've found. For what it's worth the IGI has this line tied into
royalty if you're into that sort of thing. They cite their source (among
individuals) as:
MEDIEVAL FAMILIES Microfilm:
C/O FAMILY HISTORY DEPARTMENT Submission: AF89100904
50 E NORTH TEMPLE STREET
SALT LAKE CITY UT
USA 84150

Looks impressive but I don't know what their sources are, compilations of
submitted pedigrees or actual records? Again just passing along what I
gather ......Cindy
