General:

!Went to Arkansas with his brother in 1912 (His family says his farm was near M armaduke). He bought 80 acres but could not farm it as it was covered with hic kory, so he bought 40 more acres on a hill and logged the hickory. The land was unproductive and the family moved back to Illinois. He worked was awhile for t he B&O Railroad firing locomotives until he injued his back lifting coal. He th en worked as a stationary fireman at the station.
