She also was known as Velna Baird. She attended school for one year in Arkansa, and then in Lawrence County, Illinois. She contracted tuberculosis as a young woman. She and her husband lives in Colorado Springs for awhile where she was a sanitarium patient. She died from pneumonia as a complication after the tuberc ulosis. She had no children.
