Notes
Research:
According to an email from Bob Dickenson she was adopted from a Buntin, Burtin.Medical:
Thanks for your response. I will appreciate a picture of Arthur’s grave marker.
Arthur N. Park was not a blood relation of mine. His wife Edith May Bowman was my grandmother Hannah Gould Bowman’s 1st cousin. I recently found Edith’s obituary in my grandmother’s papers along with some Christmas cards.
Edith May Bowman was the daughter of Charles F. Bowman and Cornelia Webb. Information about this family is in a book entitled “Bowmans on Trek” by Margaret Bowman Maynard, who was the daughter of Edith May’s brother Oscar R. Bowman. Mention is made of Arthur Park and his work as a carpenter.
Charles F. Bowman was the son of Peleg R. Bowman and Theodocia Bidwell. His brother Rufus E. Bowman was my grandmother’s father.
According to family records provided to me by a cousin, Edith May Bowman married Arthur Newton Park 27 Jan 1907 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born 25 Jun 1867 near Van Orin, Bureau Co. Illinois.
On 29 April 1915 they adopted Dorothy Dimple Buntin (Burtin?) at Lincoln. She was born 8 April 1907. On 8 April 1927 Dorothy Dimple Park married Willis Bender in Tryon, Nebraska. The obituary for Edith May Park gives her daughter’s name as Dorothy Fateley of San Diego, Cal.
The copy of the obituary seems to indicate that Edith May Park died 6 Apr 1941 and is buried in Wyuka. Is there any possibility that your family member in Lincoln could find if there is a grave marker for Edith May?
Not long after Edith’s death Arthur married Eva. At this time I don’t have Eva’s surname or the date of their marriage.
It’s possible my cousin has additional information; however she is unavailable at this time because of a serious illness in her family.
