Finding: a Justin Smith son of Warham and Martha Smith b. abt 1762 in Hatfield, Franklin, MA
Searching for a Justin Smith b. abt 1807 and finding one born 1808.
Listed in the 1880 census as living in Northampton, Hampshire. MA in a household with a brother Abah Smith age 77 and the brother's wife Ann H. Abah is 77 and Ann is 71.
Justin is listed as a widower.

Notes on Justin Smith and the relationship with Beard Family
Justin Smith b. abt 1772 had a son
Elial b. unknown.
Lack of birth date for Elial creates the first problem. I will assume 1792. This gives 20 years of age for Justin when Elial was born
Elial had a son Ira, b. 1813. This makes Elial 21 when Ira was born.
It is known from records that a Justin Smith married Lavina Beard, b. 1818 and his sister Delight married Adam Beard. Delight was born 1799. Justin, her brother was born abt 1807.
Using the dates available it seems unlikely that Justin (1807) and Delight (1799) were children of Elial.
Assuming that Elial was born 1792 it is impossible for him to father Delight and unlikely he fathered Justin.
Let us assume Justin (b. abt 1772) was the father of :
Delight, b. 1799
Elial (assumed b. 1792)
Justin b. 1807
That leaves one son for Elial, Ira b. 1813
Ira married Lavina Beard, b. 1818
Justin (1807) married Sarah Beard, b. 1807
Delight married Adam Beard, b. 1808
At this point Justin and Delight, brother and sister married brother and sister Adam and Sarah Beard.
Adam and Sarah are the children of John Beard and Sarah Davis.
Lavina is the daughter of Bennet Maxfield Beard and the G daughter of John beard.
It seems these people were breeding as early in life as possible and Lavina could be older than her Aunt and Uncle, Sarah and Adam.
We seem to have a total of 3 Smiths marrying 3 Beards in two consecutive generations. They were all born from 1807 to 1818.
Much of this is assumed as there is no link between Justin (1772) and Justin (1807), but the assumption seems reasonable. Further there is evidence that Adam Beard and Justin Smith were involved in activities after the death of Justin Smith (b. 1772) who died abt 1829.

After studying many records, mostly census documents I have made some suppositions and changed some relationships and positions in the Ancestral line.
I am not totally convinced that the changes are correct but they do make more sense to me than what was formerly believed.
The lack of exact dates and the fact that many names were shared make it hard to determine with great accuracy relationships. However, it was formerly believed that Justin Smith b abt 1772 had a son Elial C. b abt 1814. No other sons are known at this time.
However there was another Justin Smith, b abt 1807 that created a problem. There was also an Ira Smith. b abt 1813. I could not seem to arrange the relationships in a reasonable manner with the former assumptions about their relationship to each other.
Certain facts are known and resonably supported:
Justin Smith b abt 1807 had a sister Delight b 1799. They married two Beards.
Ira Smith b. 1813 is a direct ancestor of mine.
It was previously assumed that Elial C Smith was the father of Ira. It was always difficult to accept this when using the assumed birth dates of each. It was previously assumed that the birth date of one, or both, was in error. I now believe these two were actually brothers.
I now believe, after studying many census records and using other known facts that: Justin Smith, b abt 1772 had at least 4 children.
They were:
Delight Smith b 1799
Justin Smith b abt 1807
Ira Smith b abt 1813
Elial C Smith b abt 1814
I have not changed or deleted previous notes in this research as they show the process of coming to this conclusion

Notes on The children of Justin Smith and Ann Field.
It is now assumed that Ira Smith, born 1813 in Ohio and
Elial C Smith born 1814 in Ohio are brothers. Previously Ira
Smith was not linked as a child of Justin. He was confused
with an Ira J Smith who was the son of Elial C Smith.
The 1870 Census of Salem TWP, Allegan County Michigan lists
these familys near to each other. Also Bennet Smith, son of
Ira Smith is living with his sister and her husband, Henry
Johnson right next door to Ira Smith.
