William Crouch 3 (John 2, Richard 1) born November 15, 1762, Goochland Co VA; died May 18, 1832 (October 15,1832 date of his inventory), Goochland Co; married November 24, 1789, Goochland Co, Sally Downer / Downs Radford [2]. William Crouch s/o John & Susannah (Ellis) Crouch. Sally Radford was born December 08, 1767 in Goochland County, Virginia, the daughter of Stephen Radford [6].

William Crouch served in the Revolutionary War & applied for a pension 1829, Goochland Co VA.

According to DAR Application #48667 submitted by Lutie May Ellis Gibbons: Declaration by William Crouch, April 9, 1829, Goochland County, Virginia, swears he enlisted in 1780 or 1781 and served until the end of the war. Was commanded at close thereof by Capt. Thomas Parker, of he believed, the second Virginia Continental Establishment. Received his discharge from him about the last of 1782 or the beginning of 1783. Served as a private. Note dated in 1829 from auditors office (apparently Virginia state office) that on 11/28/1783 William Crouch received 36Lb.-5-9 a balance of full pay and depreciations. His name on certificates issued. This was sworn to by Benjamin Thomas Curd, Justice of the Peace, before witnesses - Robert Redford and William Johnson of the county. They swore that William Crouch was generally reputed and believed to have been a soldier in the army of the revolution. William Crouch appointed Thomas Underwood of Richmond, Virginia his attorney. William Crouch d____1827, Goochland County, Virginia. Married 12/8/1787 Sally Redford.

William & Sally (Downs / Downer) Radford Crouch had 6 sons & 2 daughters;

Edward Radford Crouch 4 or Edward Richard Crouch born January 23, 1791, Hanover Co VA; died June 04 1854, Shelby Co TN; married (1) January 16, 1817, Goochland Co VA, Martha Wales Smith / Smigh; m (2) August 15, 1844, Tipton Co TN, Rachel Miller. Martha Smith / Smigh born January 19, 1801, VA; died September 09,1839, Shelby Co TN;
1830 census Limestone Co AL lists Edward Crouch. 1840 census Shelby Co TN lists Edward Crouch. 1850 census Tipton Co TN lists Edward Crouch.

2. John E. "Jack" Crouch 4 born April 28 1793, died ___-___; married February 05 1817, Goochland Co VA, Nancy W. Vaughn (mother's name was Mary, father unknown). In 1840 they were living in Shelby Co., TN, after possibly living in AL for a few years (son James E. Crouch said to be born there.) Daughter Mary P. Crouch married Robert Farrar Wooldridge, also from Goochland Co., in Shelby Co., TN in 1839. By 1850 the Wooldridges were living in Independence Co., AR, and by 1860 Nancy E. Crouch was widowed and living with them there. She died May 17, 1879 in Independence Co., AR. Her headstone says she was born in 1805, and says "wife of Jack Crouch". [1]

3. George W. Crouch 4 born March 30, 1796 Further research is needed to determine if the information listed in the following citation relates to this George W. Crouch. In the Guide to the Manuscript Collections of the Virginia Baptist Historical' by Historical Records Survey of Virginia page 72 ' Obituary Notices in the Religious Herald With Dates of Publication' there is the following:

4. Nancy C. Crouch 4 born 01 August 1798; died ___-___ Is this the Nancy C. Crouch who married Harder Scott on 21 Feb 1838 in Shelby, TN.?

5. Richard H. Crouch 4 born November 24 1801, died before 1860; married November 30 ,1837, Shelby Co TN, Nancy H. Abernathy.

6. Susannah E. Crouch 4 born February 17,1805. Is this the Susanah Crouch who married Henry T. Robinson on June 17, 1845 in Shelby County, TN.

7. William S. Crouch 4 born 1808; died ___-___; married Ann W. Davis [3] on August 04, 1836, Goochland Co., VA,. (there is a citation on one of the Rootsweb.com database files that Williams S. Crouch married in Greenbrier, Va (now West Virginia) which would have been a second marriage. Any documentation of such would be appreciated.)

8. Milner Francis Crouch 4 born March 10, 1811, died December 09, 1890, Newton Co Mo.; married Susan A. Jewett (born 1811) in 1837 in Tennessee.
