Mrs. Mobley Dies At Age Of Ninety-Three
Another of Elkton's older and well beloved citizens, Mrs. Martha Gillie Edwards Mobley, passed away quietly last Saturday, April 1, at her apartment in the home of Miss Sallie Harrison on East Main Street, from infirmities of age. She was ninety-three years of age, and was born and reared in Todd County, her childhood home being located near Herman.
Mrs. Mobley was the wife of the late W.F. Mobley, who died 28 years ago. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Although of a retiring nature, Mrs. Mobley possessed many lovable traits of character which were recognized and appreciated by those who knew her best, and endeared her to hundreds of friends who grieve with the family in the passing of this gentle, kindly and devoted mother, a loss which is indeed irreparable.

Elkton - April 4, 1939. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Gillie Edwards Mobley, 93, were held Sunday afternoon at the home of her granddaughter , Mrs. Percy Shelton and Mr. Shelton. She died Saturday at the home on East Main Street from complications.The Rev. O. T. Arnett, pastor of the Presbyterian Church where she was a member, conducted the last rites.
Mrs. Mobley was the wife of the late W. F. Mobley, who died 28 years ago. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was held in the highest esteem by her family and many friends.
She leaves surviving two daughters, Mrs. J.T. Crouch, of near Elkton; Miss Ella Mobley, who resided with her mother; five sons, J.E. Mobley, Elkton; O.W. Mobley, near Elkton; Mim Mobley, Trenton; Charles Mobley, Mississippi; Henry Mobley, Arkansas, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elkton - Well Known Elkton Farmer And Financier Dies - Services Held Wednesday For J.E. Mobley - Joseph Edward Mobley, 92, well known retired farmer and financier of Elkton, died suddenly Monday afternoon at the Jefferson Davis Hotel here. Mr. Mobley had made his home at the hotel for the past 27 years and apparently died in his sleep while sitting in a chair in the hotels lobby.
Funeral services were held 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Latham-Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brooks Major, pastor of the Elkton Christian Church in charge of the final rites Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were; Allen Murphy, Wade Hall, Billy McIntosh, Billy Robey, James Seaver and Bobby Kimbrough. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Chester Stahl III, Brent Hill Traughber, Billy Bruce Crouch, Berkley Traughber, Booby Bush and Gary Traughber.
Mr. Mobley was born in Todd County on January 9, 1870, the son of the late Wilbur and Gillie Edwards Mobley.
He is survived by three brothers, Charles Mobley, Aberdeen, Miss.; Nim and O.W. Mobley both of Pembroke and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mobley services this morning at Pickle Chapel - Retired Monroe farmer was 84
Services for Charles Coleman Mobley, who died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at his residence South of Becker after a six month illness, will be held today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. at Pickle Chapel in Amory, with the Rev. Claude Roebuck conducting, assisted by Rev. Hershel Wiygul. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen with Pickle Funeral Home of Amory in charge of arrangements. He was 84.
Born and reared at Elkton, Kentucky, Mr. Mobley moved to Mississippi in 1908, and in 1910 was married in Calhoun County to the former Miss Gertrude Denley. They moved to Monroe County in 1933, and he had farmed in the Becker community since 1937 until his retirement in 1959. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
His parents were Wilbur Fritz Mobley and Martha Edwards Mobley, pioneer Kentucky residents, both now deceased.
He leaves his wife; four sons, Coleman, Edward and Wilbur, all of Aberdeen, and Denley Mobley of the C & M Auto Repair Shop in Amory; four daughters, Mrs. C.E. Gilreath, Mrs. Olen Roberts and Mrs. Martha Livingston, all of Aberdeen, and Mrs. C. B. Moon, Clarke Lake, Mich.; two brothers, O.W. Mobley, Elkton, KY. and Nim Mobley, Pembrooke, KY.; 28 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
