JUDGE WILLIAM W. FRAZER, a prominent member of the Russellville bar and judge of the Logan County Court, was born October 24, 1833, in Logan County. William Frazer and Mary A. Perkins, his parents, came to this county in their childhood; he from Maryland and she from the State of Virginia. Here they grew up and were married; he learning the trade of brick mason with which he combined farming. He lived but a few years, however, to gladden the little family of which he was the honored head, but died in December 1833, when William W., his second child, was a mere infant. His widow afterward married W. N. Grinter, and died in 1881. The childhood days of Judge Frazer were passed upon the farm, and when about twelve years old he became a "store boy" in a Russellville business house, soon acquired ability as a salesman, and when a young man, engaged in the mercantile business in the village of Allensville, Ky., which was his home for many years. In connection with his mercantile business he began the study of law, as admitted to practice in 1866, and has since devoted his time to its practice when not engaged with the duties of public office. In 1869 he was elected to the lower house of the Kentucky legislature, and at the expiration of his term in 1871, was the choice of his district to represent them in the senate, serving with acceptance for four years. In August, 1882, he was elected to the office of county judge which he now holds, residing in Russellville which has been his home since 1872. Judge Frazer was married in Todd County, Ky., in 1854, to Ann J. Wims, daughter of P. A. Wims, by which union he has eight children. He is an honored member of the Baptist Church; a Royal Arch Mason; member of the K. of H., and C. F.

CHARLES W. HADDOX was born in Logan County, Ky., on November 5, 1842, and was a son of Joseph and Mary (Williams) Haddox. The parents were natives of Virginia, and came to Logan County in an early day, where they lived and died. Subject was the fifth of eight children, of whom three are now living: Amelia W., wife of William Drain, of Clarksville; Mary L., wife of J. T. Donalson, and Claude E. The schools of Keysburg furnished his education. He remained at home until seventeen, and then went into the war; he first went out in Col. Hutchingson's Brigade; he remained there one year, and then enlisted under Gen. Morgan. He was afterward captured and sent to Camp Douglas, and subsequently transferred to Camp Chase; he was kept in prison about eighteen months, and then, returning, re-entered the army, remaining out until the close of the war. After the war he began merchandising in Keysburg, where he remained until 1866; he then came to Todd County, where he turned his attention to farming; he first had 200 acres, and afterward increased it 500 acres. This farm is now carried on by his widow, Mrs. Haddox. In 1869 he purchased Frazier & Winston's grocery in Allensville, and ran it by himself a short time. He then took in J. T. Donalson as a partner. After two years he sold out, but re-engaged in business at the end of six months at the same place. He took in his brother, C. E. Haddox, as a partner, and remained in business until 1882; he was one of the leading merchants of this point during the time he was engaged here; he was also a large produce buyer, and was probably one of the most extensive stock-dealers in southern Kentucky. He was married on November 20, 1866, in this county, to Miss Sallie B. Wims, a daughter of P. A. and S. A. (Mimms) Wims. The father was born near Richmond, Va., and came to this county in an early day, where he resided until his death in 1879. The mother was born in this county, and died here in 1880. Mrs. Haddox was born in this county on March 3, 1849, and to her have been born three children, one of whom, Charles Augusta, is still living. Mr. Haddox died here

Page 432.--16th February, 1815. James Patterson's will-- To wife, Deborah (nee Givens); sons, James, William, John, Samuel; to granddaughters, Deborah and Jane; a granddaughter, Deborah Wynes; to grandsons, James Craige, Patterson Craige, James Synes (Wymes);daughter, Jane, deceased, to her children; division to "Deborah Patterson any my nine children, or their lawful heirs, Martha Beard, Wm. Patterson, James Patterson, Sarah Craige, Deborah Wilson, the children of Jane Syms (?) (Wynn?), John Patterson, Samuel Patterson, Nancy McCullough.

Executors, sons James, John, Samuel.

Teste: Jo. Williams, James and Samuel Patterson, John Craig.

Proved, 27th february, 1815. James and John qualify.

James Patterson and Deborah Givens, had nine children, similarly named to those identified here. This makes "Jane SYms (?) (Wynn)" as given by Chalkley, to be a corruption of daughter Jane Patterson's married name of "Jane Wims", or "Jane Weems".
