Major Smith of the 3d Ohio Cavalry returned home last week.
 He has resigned his commission. WILLIAMS COUNTY LEADER June 26, 1862.
 


Resigned: Lieut. Maxwell, of Co. H, 3d Ohio Cavalry, has resigned.
 He returned to his home in West Unity recently.   Capt. C.W. Skinner,
 of Co. H, 3d Ohio Cavalry, has been appointed to a position on

    ARMY PROMOTIONS 
    The following promotions in Ohio Regiments are announced:
 3rd Cavalry: Ord. Sergt., P. Lewis, to be 2d Lieut.

    COUNTY SURVEYOR 
    At the recent term of the Williams County Court of Common Pleas,
 the office of Surveyor for this county was declared vacant, by the
 absence of the Surveyor elect-Maj. Chas. W. Skinner, of the 
3d Ohio Cavalry-and Mr. A.T. Bement, of this place, was appointed to

Third Ohio Cavalry-Mr. John Shouf has recently received a letter from his son;
 in which it is stated that the Regiment will probably winter at a point about
 twelve miles from Louisville, Ky. Gratifying intelligence to the friends of
 the Williams county boys who are attached to that Regiment.
