Peter Stillwagon served in Company E as a Corporal from the beginning of the unit in Sept. 1861 and served the full 4 years, and was discharged in August 1865. He was captured on 31 Dec 1862 in the Battle of Stones River and imprisoned in Virginia until March 1863 until exchanged. He was also wounded in the battles of Jonesboro, Ga., and again in the battle of Selma, Alabama. He was born in October 1844 and died on 14 April 1927 at the age of 82. He is buried in the Scott Cemetery, Scott, Paulding County, Ohio. He was listed as being 19 at the time of enlistment he was actually 16 years and 11 months old on enlistment. His name was listed as "Stillwagan" and "Stillwagoner." George Stillwagon, Peter's older brother by two years served in the 4th OVC as a Private. He enlisted as a Private in 1862 and was medically discharged in 1864 having been shot many times in the Battle of Jonesboro, Ga. He was awarded the Medal of Honor!
