November 14,1863 Cumberland Gap, Tenn. Dear Brother once more I seat myself to write a few lines to you. I have not got the time to write but a few lines. We drawed our pay yesterday and I will send a order to you calling for $35.00 dollars to the county treasurer. You draw it and use it for anything you have a mind to until I come home. It is four months ago saince our regiment was organized. There was quite a little fight here close to the Gap. The other day our men killed two rebels and wounded two and took 20 men prisoner and 9 horses One of our boys shot a rebel Captain. We are in Louisville, Kentucky and expect to leave at 3 o'clock this afternoon. This is a nice place We left Sincinata the first day of April about 4 o clock and, we got hear about 9 today and I think that we will leave at 3 this afternoon and then we go to Nashville. I want you to write and tell me if Sam got that money and tell him to send me one dollars worth of stamps and direct to the 36 O.V.I. Co. H in care of Capt. Yates. Dave and I is all right.
