* Direct-line ancestor. The (-4G) after the names indicates the number of generations before Erven Thoma.
His other siblings were born before him: sister Eva (b. 18 Dec. 1785) (-4G), brother Joseph (b. 16 Mar. 1789) (-4G), sister Apollonia (b. 3 Feb. 1791) (-4G), and sister Magdalena (b. 20 Jul. 1800) (-4G).
He is mentioned on the marriage record of Fridolin Thoma* (his son) and Emilie Jaeger* (5 Feb., 1874). The marriage is recorded in the Kirchenbuch (church book) of the Katholische Kirche (catholic church) of Grafenhausen in the Bonndorf district of Waldshut county. This book covers the years 1639-1900. It is available for rental as microfilm from the Salt Lake City Genealogical Society, IGI batch M950322, years 1830-85, source call 0938923.
He is listed in the family record with his wife and 14 children. This appears in the civil records of Altenschwand which is available on microfilm (LDS film #0957339, batch K969141). His parents are listed on this record.
An Andreas Thoma was the proprietor of the "Hirschen" Landgasthof (Inn/guesthouse) in Altenschwand. It could have been this one because his son Fridolin was definitely the proprietor at a later time.

There is an Andreas Thoma mentioned as a witness to the marriage of Fridolin and Emilie Jaeger* (-3G). This Andreas is a citizen (Bürger) and a farmer in Gottingen. I do not know if this is the same man as the above father of Fridolin or perhaps a brother. They could be the same person since mention of the father does not indicate that he is deceased whereas the deceased status of Fridolin's mother is recorded on the marriage record.
There was an Andreas Thoma who was the mayor or "Vogt" of Altenschwand from 1859 to
1860. The dates suggest it was the same Andreas of this web page.
