She was born at St. Anthony's Hospital at 3:07 AM on 25 Feb. 1944. Her parents were living at 4246 Dewey in St. Louis at the time of her birth. Her father was 37 years old and was employed as a carpenter with the St. Louis Ship Bldg. Co. Her mother was 33 years old and was a housewife. Both parents were born in St. Louis.

She was baptized on 09 Apr. 1944 at Independent Congregational Church, Fair and Margaretta Sts in St. Louis.The baptism register for the church gives her birthdate and parents. The sponsors/godparents were her step-grandmother, Elizabeth Thake (-2G) and a first cousin of her mother, Erven Sandherr (-1G). The officiant was the church's minister, the Rev. Ita T. Gragg. (baptism #14 of the year, #1031 in the history of the church, p. 87 in the records.)

This family group picture was taken on occasion of the christening of Beth (Elizabeth). The location is the back porch steps at 3922 Lexington Ave. in St. Louis where Beth's maternal aunt and her step-grandmother Elizabeth lived. Beth's mother, Alice, is the woman on our left, seated on the bottom step. Beth is being held by Adeline Winge, Alice's mother-in-law. The picture was taken on 09 Apr. 1944 which was the day of her baptism.
From ca 1942 to ca 1947 we lived at 4246 Dewey in south St. Louis. Here are pictures of the front and back of the double flat. We lived on the first floor on the left (front view).
An early picture of Beth taken in the back yard of the Lexington Ave. house (address: 3922). Probably taken after we moved there (ca 1947). We lived on the first floor and our aunt and step-grandmother lived upstairs.

With her parents and siblings, Elizabeth moved ca. 1947 to 3922 Lexington Ave. in St. Louis, then ca. 1957 to 9563 Yuma Dr. in south St. Louis County. When living on Lexington, she went to Farragut Elementary School in St. Louis city. When living on Yuma she went to Mehlville schools in south St. Louis County, graduating from Mehlville Jr. High on 9 June 1959 and from Sr. High 3 years later.

The 1956 St. Louis City Dir. has Emil (Alice) Thoma, carpenter, with a home at 3922 Lexington Ave. The 1958 City Dir. has the same.

In Sept. and Oct. 1964 she paid for beginning shorthand and intermediate typing classes fron the Lindbergh School District.

The 1966 St. Louis County Dir. has a separate listing for Eliz. Thoma, student, residing at the home of her parents, 9563 Yuma Dr. in Concord Village. The 1969 County Dir. has a separate listing for Eliz. Thoma, student, residing (with her parents) at 9563 Yuma Dr. in Concord Village. The 1970 County Dir. has the same information. The St. Louis County Dir. of 1971 has a separate listing for Eliz. Thoma as a student living with her parents at 9563 Yuma Dr. in Concord Village, MO. The County Dir. of 1972-73 (combined issue) also lists her separately as a student, living with her parents. The 1974 County Dir. has the same information as the 1966 issue.

After high school she liked to travel with her aunt when she had the chance. She continued to lived with her parents and never married or had children. She died of a brain tumor while at the hospital on 10 Mar. 1975. She was buried in the Thake lots (lots 154-55, section 4) in Valhalla Cemetery. Records at the cemetery agree on the death date. She is sadly missed.

Beth is not listed in the 1976 and subsequent county directories.

Her mother passed away on 13 Mar. 1981; her father on 09 Mar. 1997. Both are buried in Valhalla Cemetery.
