*My direct-line ancestor. The (-4G), etc., indicates the number of generations before Erven Thoma.

He is listed in the family record with his parents and 14 children.  This appears in the civil records of Altenschwand which is available on microfilm (LDS film #0957339, batch K969141). His father, and later brothers, owned the Hirschen Inn in Altenschwand, pictured below.

Here is a picture of the Hirschen Inn, outside, as it is in August 2004. Click this thumbnail to enlarge.

He became a catholic priest. He was ordained on 10 Aug. 1852, then served as vicar in Kirchzarten from 1852-54. From 1854-61 he was parish and chaplain administrator in Burkheim. From 1861 to 63 he was parish administrator in Ottersdorf. From 1863-78 he was parish priest in Achdorf.

His mother died on 27 Nov. 1869, probably in Altenschwand. His father died on 29 Nov. 1884, probably in Altenschwand.

From 1878 to 1901 he was parish priest in Murg, Germany. Murg is east of Bad Saeckingen (formerly just Saeckingen) in Baden Germany, on the Rhine border with Switzerland.

He also served as an officer in various catholic organizations: "Definitor" of the Chapter of Wiesental.; "Meßstiftung" in the Rickenbach Church Foundation (in charge of the church endowment?); legate to the St. Francis-Xavier Society and the St. Boniface Society.

Because he was a catholic priest he never married nor sired children. He died on 05 Apr. 1901, perhaps in Murg.

His brother Fridolin died in 1910 in St. Louis, MO.
