David Dellinger was born on 20 November 1773 at
Dunmore Co., Virginia; David's birthdate has also been given as being in September, however, Muhlenberg's baptisms as published by Wayland show David son of Frederick and Catherine b. 20 Sept. 1773- but that an incorrect transcription of the original record. Muhlenberg used the German/Latin abbreviation of dates- and so he recorded Nov. as "9ber" (November literally means ninth month and before the adoption of the Gregorian Calendar on the continent in 1589- it was- British did not adopt the Gregorian reform until 1752- before that the new year began Mar. 25). Wayland transcribed 9ber as Sept.--In fact September is abbreviated "7ber" Sept meaning 7.
