Elias was born at
Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, on 17 October 1817. He was the son of
Jacob Dellinger and
Catherine Otstadt. He married
Mary Moyer at
York Co., Pennsylvania, on 27 April 1843. Elias was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census at

"Fall Brought Death
Eli Dellinger died at his home on Front street, about 10 o'clock on Sunday morning, after one week's illness. Mr. Dellinger's death was due to a fall which he received while going home from the funeral of James Holtzinger, on last Tuesday afternoon. The pavement was very slippery and whil walking in fornt of John Fleckstine's he slipped and fell, breaking his hip and sustaining other injuries. He was taken to his home at which time he took his bed and steadily gre worse up to his death. Mr. Dellinger was in his eighty-second year and lived in town all his life, and was very well known and had many friends. The funeral of the deceased man will be held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon from his home, and interment will be made in Fairview cemetery. He is survived by a wife and several children to mourn his death."
