John was born at
York Co., Pennsylvania, on 27 August 1871. He was the son of
Barton Dellinger and
Leah Anstine. He married
Louisa Kinard at
Christ Lutheran Church, York, York Co., Pennsylvania, on 24 October 1893. John Ervin Dellinger died on 19 January 1943 at
Wrightsville, York Co., Pennsylvania, at age 71. He was New Tag Obituary from a 21 Jan 1943 newspaper:
"John E. Dellinger
WRIGHTSVILLE, Jan. 21 - John Ervin Dellinger, 71-year-old resident of Wrightsville, died at his home 140 Hellam street, Tuesday evening at 10:30 o'clock from a cerbral hemorrhage. His body was found on a davenport in his home yesterday morning by John Wales and Reuben Morrison, who had entered the house after the occupants of a second floor apartment became alarmed when they did not hear Mr. Dellinger moving around. Mr. Dellinger who conducted a restaurant at his home for 46 years had been living alone since the death of his wife seven months ago. Early Monday evening, while working in the restaurant, he complained of not feeling well. It is thought that death occurred shortly after he closed the restaurant for the night. He had been in his usual health up until Monday evening. Dr. B.A. Hoover was summoned after the body was found and he in turn summoned Coroner L.U. Zech, who issued the death certificate. Mr. Dellinger, who was born in Lower Windsor township, was a son of the late Barton and Leah Anstine Dellinger. He was a member of Grace Evangelical church and was associated with Chihuahua lodge 317 I.O.O.F. Susquehanna council No. 89, F.P.A. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Oscar Thomas, Wrightsville R.D. 1 and a brother Paul Dellinger, Wrightsville. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at at the Etzweler Funeral home. The Rev. Harry Minsker will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery."

WRIGHTSVILLE, Jan 25. - Funeral services for John Ervin Dellinger, who died Tuesday at his home here, were held Saturday at the Etzweiler Funeral home. The Rev. Harry Minsker officiated. The pallbearers were John Nauss, Chester Scantling, Guy Myers, Oscar Ruby, Jacob Keller and Paul Benedict. Interment was in Fairview cemetery."
