Merle was born at
Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, on 23 February 1914. He was the son of
Charles H. Dellinger and
Gertrude M. Crumbling. He married
Lucille Margaret Beck at
York Co., Pennsylvania, on 16 April 1938. Merle died on 22 July 1994 at
York Hospital, York, York Co., Pennsylvania, at age 80. Obituary from the 23 July 1994 York Daily Record:
"Red Lion, Merle C. Dellinger, 80, of Red Lion, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday at York Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Lucille M. (Beck) Dellinger.
The service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave. Red Lion. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church. The Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Home Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dellinger was born Feb. 23, 1914, in Windsor Township. He was the son of the late Charles H. and Gertrude (Crumbling) Dellinger.
He retired in 1979 after 30 years as an electrician in the maintenance department of Yorktowne Kitchens and Red Lion Cabinet Co. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Sunday School and served on the church's administration council and finance committee. He was a former Red Lion Borough Council member and served on the borough's planning and zoning committee for 18 years. He also was a member of the Early American Steam Engine and Old Equipment Society.
Mr. Dellinger also is survived by a sister, Pauline Stine of Mount Pisgah; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Officiating at the service will be the Revs. Charles W. Keller, his pastor, Preston L. Haugh, his assistant Pastor, and Edward H. Yarnell, his former pastor.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion 17356; or to the Early American Steam Engine Society, c/o Sue Knaub, 850 S. Pleasant Ave., Dallastown 17313.". His body was interred on 25 July 1994 at
Red Lion, York Co., Pennsylvania, at Red Lion Cemetery.
