     Andrew was born in 1839. He was the son of William Roger Gappin. He married Barbara Dellinger at Fannin Co., Georgia, on 1 December 1861. Andrew served in the military. Andrew served in the Civil War with the Confederate States Army. He was apparently a prisoner of war and was sent first to Wheeling, West Virginia before being sent to Ohio in July 1863. There doesn't appear to be any further record of him after that. Did he die as a prisoner of war? Or perhaps after he was released did he not return to Georgia but rather stayed in the north or perhaps he moved west leaving his family behind?.
