Frederick was born at
Frederick Co., Maryland, circa 1764. He was the son of
Jacob Link Sr. and
Barbara (?). He was listed as a minor in Orphan's Court records at
Tryon Co., North Carolina, in July 1770. Frederick was anointed with chrism at
Ore Bank Lutheran Church, Pumpkin Center, Lincoln Co., North Carolina, in 1779. He married
Catherine (?) in 1783. Frederick Link was fosterage in April 1790 at
Lincoln Co., North Carolina; Hannah, who was orphaned at the age of ten, was ordered by the Lincoln Co., North Carolina Court of Pleas and Quarter Session to be bound over to Frederick Link until she reached the age of 18. Frederick was listed as the head of a family on the 1790 Census at
Lincoln Co., North Carolina. He served on a jury at
Lincoln Co., North Carolina, in January 1796. He was land contract on 5 January 1798 at
Lincoln Co., North Carolina; Frederick Link bought 47 acres, of low ground, on both sides of Leeper's Creek, for a price of 50 pounds from Robert Johnston.
