The following is from "The Wilson Genealogy" by Adda Wilson:
David Moffatt, youngest son of William and wife Barbara married Mary Strong and settled on land willed to him by his father. He was not a very able-bodied man but very industrious and economical and made a good living off his farm, did all the work themselves. He was a devoutly religious man and of temperate habits.
David was born at
Chester Co., South Carolina, in 1789. He was the son of
William Moffett and
Barbara Chesnut. He married
Mary "Mollie" Strong at
Chester Co., South Carolina, in 1809. David was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census at
Chester Co., South Carolina. He made a will at
Chester Co., South Carolina, on 17 July 1830. David died on 20 August 1830 at
Chester Co., South Carolina. His body was interred in August 1830 at
Hopewell, Chester Co., South Carolina, at Moffatt-Strong-McDill Cemetery. Tombstone reads:
