He married Catharina Dellinger at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, York, York Co., Pennsylvania, on 11 November 1809. Johan was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census at Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania. He was migration; Date is uncertain as to when he moved to Ashland Co., Ohio but it may have been around 1829 - 1830. He resided at Montgomery Twp., Richland Co., Ohio, in 1830. Montgomery Twp., Richland Co., Ohio later became Ashland Co., Ohio.. Johan died on 28 February 1850 at Ashland Co., Ohio. His body was interred in March 1850 at Montgomery Twp., Ashland Co., Ohio, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

     Johan was born at Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, on 18 August 1752. He was the son of Freidrich Pfaff and Anna Sibila (?). Johan George Pfaff married an unknown person ; It has been thought be some, including me, that Johan George Pfaff was married to Anna Merchant on 30 August 1772 in the German Reformed Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However there is another George Poff, approximately the same age but settled in Virginia that is also said to have been married to Anna Merchant. I tend to believe that the George Poff of Virginia was married to Anna Merchant and the Johan George Pfaff of Pennsylvania was married to yet another woman who has not been positively identified at this time (2006). The two George's at this time do not appear to be related. He left a will on 1 December 1817 at Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania; George Poff's will was written 1 Dec. 1817 and probated on 12 May 1819. His heirs are: Frederick Poff, George Poff, John Poff, Maria Barbara, wife of Anthony Amend, and Christina, wife of Jacob Reinbine. The executors were John Gilbert and Joseph Hamaker. Johan died in 1819 at Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania.
