Duke of Clarence George Plantagenet was born circa 1448. He was the son of
Duke of York Richard Plantagenet and
Cecily Neville. Duke of Clarence George Plantagenet married
Isabel Neville, daughter of
Earl of Warwick Richard Neville and
Anne Beauchamp, in July 1469 at
Calais, France. Duke of Clarence George Plantagenet died on 18 February 1478 at
Tower of London, London, England; George was sentenced to death around the middle of January 1478 on charges of treason as well as making claims that, his brother, King Edward IV was illegitimate therefore making George the rightful heir to the crown. He was executed in the Tower of London by unknown means, however Shakespeare writes that after being stabbed, he was then drown in a cask of Malmsey wine. It is reported that Edward and George's mother, Cecily Neville requested of Edward that George be allowed to choose his own means of death and that whatever he chose, that it be done in private.
