Levi was born at
Ashland Co., Ohio, on 4 February 1852. He was the son of
Jacob Poff and
Julia Ann Laubaugh. Levi Henry Poff married
Irene Adair, daughter of
John Adair and
Martha Simpkins, on 5 February 1873 at
Green Co., Wisconsin. Levi Henry Poff died on 27 February 1927 at
Argyle, Lafayette Co., Wisconsin, at age 75. He was New Tag Obituary from the "Argyle Correspondent" newpaper:
"LONG TIME RESIDENT OF ARGYLE CALLED SUNDAY
Levi Henry Poff, age 75 years, died at his home in Argyle Sunday morning February 27th, after a lingering illness of several months.
The deceased was born in Ashland, Ohio in 1852, came to this district with his parents when only four years of age and has lived in Adams and Argyle ever since, with the exception of eight years spent on a farm in River Bend.
In early manhood he married Miss Irene Adair of Canada, and to them thirteen children were born. One daughter died at the age of 17, but the following twelve children survive: Mrs. Oscar Hanson and Mrs. Alfred Anderson, Argyle; Mrs. John Wells, Mrs. Earl Trotter and Mrs. John Rose of Woodford; Guy and George Poff, Monroe; Jake Poff, Reedsburg; John Poff, Beloit; Mrs. Will Mary, Adams; Mrs. Henry Magnus, Markle, Ind; Mrs. Elmer Anderson, San Juan, Texas. Three sisters, Mrs. Platt Partridge of Darlington; Mrs. Hite Partridge of Argyle; and Mrs. Pat F. Flannery of Jordan, also survive.
During his late illness every immediate member of his family was at his bedside. There are 62 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mr. Poff has long been a prominent figure in the life of Argyle and was known to all as a man of honesty and integrity. His passing will be mourned by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Vaughan today at 11 o'clock at the home and later at the M.E. Church with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery." In March 1927 at
