Named as co-executor to his brother-in-law Robert Strong's estate.
He inherited several tracts of land in York and Chester Co., South Carolina from his father, Major Robert Simonton, and in addition he bought other lands about the time of his marriage to Margaret Strong.
He lived in that section until 1798 when he moved down into Fairfield Co. A portion of his York Co. land was sold to Andrew Tipping in 1799, the last conveyance of this land was to Robert Caughran on May 26, 1799. The county records of Fairfied show that John Simonton both purchased and sold land from the year 1790 to the time of his death in 1840.
He was wounded and confined in the home of Charles Strong and nursed by his daughter, Margaret, whom John Simonton afterward married.
John was born at
Ireland in 1761. He was the son of
Robert Simonton and
Margaret (?). He married
Margaret Jeannette Strong at
Fishing Creek, Chester Co., South Carolina, on 1 July 1785. He married
Sarah (?) circa 1832. He made a will at
Fairfield Co., South Carolina, on 19 February 1839. John died on 31 January 1841 at
Fairfield Co., South Carolina. His body was interred in February 1841 at
Fairfield Co., South Carolina, at New Hope ARP Cemetery.
