William Dickey was an Associate Reformed Presbyterian Minister. He went to school at Due West College in South Carolina., then to Presbyterian seminary in Pennsylvania and then Ohio, where he met his wife. "After William was licensed to preach, he did much faithful service in various churches in Ohio and Indiana and in the fall of 1835 he received and accepted a call to the pastorate of the Bloomington ARP Church and here on the 16th June 1836 he was ordained and installed...and remained for thirty-three years." There is a picture of him hanging at the Indiana University in Bloomington.
William was born at
Generostee, Pendleton Co., South Carolina, on 25 August 1806. He was the son of
James Turner and
Martha Dickey. He married
Julia Ann Woodard at
Wayne Co., Indiana, on 23 April 1834. William was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census at
Perry Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana. William died on 6 August 1883 at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at age 76. His body was interred in August 1883 at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at Rose Hill Cemetery.
