Maxwell was born at
Chester Co., South Carolina, on 12 July 1811. He was the son of
Archibald Wilson and
Martha McQuiston. He married
Martha Moffatt at
South Carolina on 18 December 1833. Maxwell was listed as a member of a church at
Monroe Co., Indiana, in 1836. Joined the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Monroe Co., Indiana in the spring of 1836, with his wife Martha.. He bought property at
Monroe Co., Indiana, on 10 September 1836. Bought 40 acres, the southwest corner of the Northeast corner of section 35, township 9, range 2W of Monroe Co., Indiana from David Cherry on Sept. 10, 1836. At the same time he purchased another 40 acres in the southeast corner of the Northwest corner of the same section as above from David Cherry.. Maxwell was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census at
Monroe Co., Indiana. Maxwell died on 27 July 1846 at
Monroe Co., Indiana, at age 35. His body was interred in July 1846 at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at Rose Hill Cemetery.
