Now they’re in Switzerland, in front of the Matterhorn, still on their circuitous way to Paris.
Richard, by the way, is serving on the Mission President’s staff in Paris, where Duane has always craved to go, through his entire life as a language teacher. German was his first foreign language, and he received his Master’s degree in German. But French was his favorite, both language and culture, and he yearned to travel there. According to Valerie (who, as Richard’s fiancée, was living with the folks, these days), it was Leola, characteristically, who made the whole marvelous trip happen. Duane, also characteristically, was open to the likelihood of impossibility; Leola, never. |
