2006—History!
This year, we focused on family history: generating it, living through it, and chronicling it.

After a year of much traveling and an aborted effort to move our seat of operations 1300 miles east, we pretty much stayed “home” in 2006 and let the excitement come to us. Until the middle of the year, when, under Valerie’s sensitive and expert management, we assembled all our blood descendants but one for an early-summer family reunion at Chankly. As we didn’t know then, we’d achieve such a gathering only once more in this world.

29 March: Bishop Mark Robbins called me as the new Fox Pointe Ward’s first family history consultant. Actually, he didn’t use that language, inasmuch as the Church hadn’t yet invented it. Had the privilege of helping a few neighbors chase down some dead relatives, but the demand for my services wasn’t what you’d call burdensome, and I’ve never been much of a salesman.

This assignment fit in beautifully, though,
P0006242Doris 11 April: Doris Leora Elder Jorgenson (1915-2006), Valerie’s mom, died in Los Altos, and we drove there for the funeral. Alzheimer’s had done an awful job on her, and we’re convinced she’s much better off, now.
