The Will of John Grove, yeoman of Tingewick
written September 1716, proved April 1725

In the name of God Amen I John Grove Sen of Tingewick in the County of Bucks yeom being of Sound mind doo make and ordaine this my last will and testament In mannor and form following that is to say First I commend my soul into the hands Almighty God my Body I commend to the Earth to be decently buryed at the deiscretion of my Executor here after named and as touching the disposicon of all my Temporall Estate I give dispose of as followeth Imprimis I will that my Debts & Funerall charges shall be paid & Discharged Item I give and bequeath unto Erasmus Grove my second son one shilling to be paid him in one yeare after my decease And where as I formerly gave him a Bond ____ my hand for the payment of forty pounds shall and is my full of all Legacy of fortune otherwise than what herein before bequeath that he may anyways claim or demand Item I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah now the wife of Thomas Greaves the sume of Thirty pounds to be paid to her wth in one yeare after my decease Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Mary now the wife of John Straing the sume of Thirty pounds to be paid to her wth in one yeare after my decease And where as I have surrendered all that yard Land lieing & being in the common fields of Tingwick aforesaid that was not heretofore settled on my first wife to the use of this my last will & Testament now my will & meaning is that the said yard land shall stand and be chargeable for the payment of The aforesaid Legacies which if my executor hereafter named doth discharge & pay then the said Yard Land to him & his heires forever according to the Custome of the said mannor otherwise to be sold by them for the payment of their said legacies But if the said Sarah & Mary should happen to dye or either of them before such Legacy shall become due & payable Then my will and meaning is that such Legacy of such persons dyeing Shall be divided amongst the Children then of such person so dyeing living share and share alike All the rest residue of my personall Estate Goods & Chattells wt soever I give & bequeath unto my Loveing son John Grove whom I do hereby make & appoint full whole Executor of this my last will & Testament and I do here by revoke dis____ & make void all former wills & Testaments by me herebefore made either my word of mouth or in writting in witness where of I the said John Grove to this my last will & Testament have set my hand and seale this fouerth day of September in the third yeare of the reighn of our Sovereign Lord George by the grace of God of great Brittaine & France & Ireland King Defender of the faith et Annua Duo 1716
