Tell Mrs Wood we are feeding like // fighting-cocks. Six o'clock in the
morning we have a cup of tea and // a beautiful apple - breakfast 8.30
when you have porridge or grape-nuts, // & choice from kippered herring, ham & egg
(a fresh one, I tried one this morning), // curry & rice, preserves, bananas. That's
practically this morning's menu. Then // lunch at 12.30, tea at 3.30, dinner
6 p.m. (no evening-dress, blouse & skirt // if you like - hurrah! I can leave my
nice frocks where they are) & a cup of // cocoa or tea at 9 p.m. Isn't that fine?
Last night's dinner menu was as follows // - Soup, fillet of haddock, chicken,
beef & yorkshire pudding & Brussels // Sprouts, sultana pudding, coffee & preserved
