Wimbush was very badly facially wounded in World War I
and his face was rebuilt by some of the earliest
plastic surgery - you can see this from the photo.
In the photo he has just taken his M.A. degree. He
had taken a B.A. at Oxford in the early 1900s and
decided to 'upgrade' around 1960 - no study or exam necessary, just
a ceremony!
