The will covers both sides of a sheet of parchment 27 cm wide by 44 cm long. Each side had to be scanned in four pieces, which partially explains the mosaic quality of this image. In addition, the will was folded once horizontally and once vertically, causing some loss of legibility before the North Carolina Department of Archives and History pieced it back together and laminated it.
