Thurmaston Junior School Football Team, 1960/61 Season. (#034)

This photograph shows the boys of the Thurmaston Junior School football team during their 1960/61 season when they won Division 6 Leicester Junior Schools league. It is believed that this was the first time the school had won a football trophy, which was an achievement as there were only a few boys at the school from which a team selection could be made. The team played its games on Saturday mornings at Roundhill School, but could not use the changing room facilities at the school, rather the steps of the school footbridge were used as a shelter for doning kit. Most of the individuals in the photograph have been identified by Mr. Neil Hughes, who appears in the photograph.

If you can supply any information regarding the identity of the boys please contact the website author by clicking on the following link
