            Hastings Marks was born April 4th, 1795. Moved to Arkansas.
            Elizabeth was born Aug. 12th, 1797.
            Amelia Marks was born Oct. 8th, 1799. Married David Meriwether.
            Martha Harvie Marks was born June 25th, 1801.
            Nicholas Meriwether Marks was born Aug. 24, 1803. Moved to Louisiana.
            James Marks was born May 19th, 1805.  Louisiana.
 
John Marks married Susan Thompkins.  They moved to Alabama and bought the Pollard place.

            Nicholas Meriwether Marks and Anne Paul Mathews were married on the 6th day of February, 1806.
            William & Martha Marks were born on the 1st day of Feb. 1807.
            May Marks was born on the    day of September, 1810.
            Rebecca M. Marks was born on the 26th day of March 1812.
            Ann Marks was born on the 24th day of March 1812. [sic]
            James Marks was born on 31st of December, 1817.
            Saml. B. Marks was born on the 1st. July, 1820.
            Nicholas Marks was born on the 28th August, 1824.
 
Marriages
            Martha Gaines Marks was married to Gen. Thos. Scott on the 17th Sept. 1823.
            Elizabeth Marks was married to Mr. William B. Gilmer on the 21st of July 1824.
            Rebecca Marks was married to Geo. W. Watkins on the 1st of January, 1828.
            William M. Marks was married to Ann M. Olive on the 5th of August, 1828.
            Ann B. Marks was married to Doctor James Watkins on the 2nd December, 1830.
            William Marks was married to Catherine Crain on the 22nd day of December 1831.
            Sam. B. Marks was married to Marie Louise Crain on the 16th day of April, 1840.

Deaths
            Nicholas Meriwether Marks died June 1st, 1847.
            Ann Paul Marks died Sept. 21st, 1855.
            Mary the daughter of Nicholas and Ann Marks died on the 15th day of May 1813.
            Nicholas Marks, Jr. died on the 16th of April, 1836.
            James Marks died 14th January, 1842.
            Martha Gaines Scott died on October 19th, 1854.
            Ann Blackburn Watkins died Sept. 25th, 1855.
            Sam. B. Marks died 1868.
            William M. Marks died Aug. 28th, 1876.
            Elizabeth H. Gilmer died May 1890.

This Bible record was found with the George Mathews Marks family information in Surname Film 360, frame 1545, at the Alabama Department of Archives and History. The present owner is unknown.
 
John Marks was born January 13, 1773, in Elbert County, Georgia. He married Susan Tompkins, born 1775 in Elbert County sometime after 1790. He and his family moved to Montgomery County in August 1817. He bought land all over Montgomery County. Mr. Marks died in Montgomery County before October 12, 1827, leaving a will that named his wife Susan and their five children. Their son, Nicholas Meriwether Marks, married Ann Paul Mathews in 1806. He died in September 1847. The 1850 Montgomery County census shows Ann P. Marks as head of household, age 60, born in Georgia; with her were Samuel (28), Mariah (33) all born in Georgia, and Nicholas M. (5), Rebecca (3), and William 2/12.
