In the name of God, Amen. I Sally Meriweather of Amelia County being of sound mind and disposing memory do constitute make and appoint this last will and testament this 31st day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty two.

 Item 1st.  I leave my negro woman Judith in trust for the use of my son William Weaver Meriweather during his life, and at his death I then give the said Judith and all the children that she may have after the date of this will to my two grandsons, Algernon Sidney Meriweather and David Shields Meriweather to them and their heirs forever in fee simple, to be equally divided between them, and if either of them should die before their father then to the survivor forever.

Item 2d.  I give my negro girl Simone to my granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Meriweather to her and her heirs forever also all my wearing apparel of all description whatsoever.

 Item 3d.  I give my granddaughter Martha Rebecca Anderson my negro woman Jane to her and her heirs forever.

 Item 4th.  I give my granddaughter Mary Eliza Ligon my negro girl Martha to her and her heirs forever.  Also my beach Beureau.

 Item 5th.  I leave to my son Joseph Monroe Meriweather after paying for my coffing all the rest of my estate both real and personal whatsoever also revertion that I may have in my father's Estate, to him and his heirs forever.

 Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Joseph Monroe Meriweather my Executor with full powers to carry this my last will and testament into full force and effect.  I also leave him trusted for the purpose of carrying the trust into effect that I have created in the first item of this will, as verbally communicated to him.

In Amelia County Court March 22d 1832

This the last will and testament of Sally Meriweather dec'd was exhibited into Court and proven by the oaths of two of the witnesses thereto subscribed and ordered to be recorded.  Joseph M. Meriweather the Executor named in said will appeared in Court and refused to qualify as such and therefore on his motion who made oath and together with Joseph B. Anderson his security entered into and acknowledged Bond in the penalty of four thousand dollars conditioned according to law.  Certificate is granted him for obtaining letters of administration on said Estate with the will annexed in due form.
