ALSO
THE
COMPLETE 1841 HEADS OF HOUSEHOLD INDEX FOR
TODMORDEN AND WALSDEN, LANGFIELD
AND PART OF STANSFIELD
This details name, address,
age, occupation and place of birth.
In addition to the areas covered on this website, Keith Stansfield
has transcribed both the 1841 and 1851 census returns for the WHOLE of Stansfield (his 1851 transcription includes the lower third not covered on this website). For approximately 36% of individuals he has linked their whereabouts in both census. He is willing to search his own data base and can be contacted by email at: [email protected]
In
the 1841 census, the age of people under 15 is as stated
by the head of household. The ages of people over 15 are
recorded as the lowest in a range of 5 years, for example,
15 means over 15 but under 20. For those who, like us, are
easily confused by this, Ernest Law has produced a table
to help with the mathematics!
