Labourer
This
is the Last Will and Testament of me, Abraham Crossley of Steanorbottom
in the Parish of Rochdale and County of Lancaster, labourer.
Whereby
I do give and bequeath unto Susan, my well-beloved wife, the sum
of thirteen pounds, and I do will and direct that she shall have
the use of my best bed with the bedding belonging thereto during
her life, and at her death that the same bed and bedding, and also
the sum of forty shillings be given to Martha Crossley, the daughter
of my son, John.
I
give and bequeath unto my daughter, Sarah Crossley, the sum of five
shillings.
I
give and bequeath unto Samuel and Sally Crossley, the son and daughter
of my daughter Betty, each one guinea.
I
give and bequeath unto Betty Crossley, widow of my son James, Martha
Harrison late the wife of my son John, and Mary Crossley, widow
of my son Henry, one shilling a piece each respectively.
And
I will that all the residue and remainder of my property and assets
whatsoever, be converted into money and that -
One-fourth
part thereof be equally divided amongst all the children of my son
James that shall be living at my decease;
Another
fourth part thereof be equally divided amongst all the children
of my son John that shall be living at my decease;
Another
fourth part thereof be equally divided amongst all the children
of my son Henry that shall be living at my decease;
Another
fourth part thereof be equally divided amongst all the children
of my daughter Ann that shall be living at my decease,
And
to be paid upon them attaining the age of 21 years.
I
appoint Joshua Fielden of Steps in Walsden, Carter, and James Scholfield
of Todmorden, Joiner, joint executors of my Last Will and Testament,
in witness whereof I do put my hand and hereunto this 18th day of
December in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand and Eight Hundred.
