Notes from John Travis, contemporary historian:
Adamroyd Mill and Shed was built about 1860-62 by James Barker, grocer and draper of Gandy Bridge, Todmorden. James Barker died in 1870. His sons, Shadrach and Abraham, enlarged the mill in 1877 and formed a limited company.
