HAIGH, SPINSTER OF NICKLETY

BACK TO INDEX OF WILLS
This
is the last will and testament of me Ann Haigh of Niqlety (sic)
in Todmorden and Walsden in the parish of Rochdale in the County
of Lancaster, spinster. I appoint
Robert Fielden of Inchfield Fold Farm, executor of my will and direct
him to pay my debts and funeral expenses as soon as convenient after
my decease.
I
give and bequeath the sum of five pounds to my nephew Joseph Crowther
and I give and bequeath my household goods and furniture, monies
and all other my estate and effects to my nephews Benjamin Bottomley,
John Bottomley, Jay Crowther, the said Joseph Crowther, Ann Jackson,
wife of Zachariah Jackson and my sister Mary Crowther, share and
share alike.
And
I direct my said estate and effects to be so divided as soon as
convenient after my decease.
I
also direct that my said executor shall not be answerable for any
loss except the same shall arise from his wilful neglect or default.
And that it shall be lawful for him to retain and direct all expenses
incurred by him in the execution of my will.
And
hereby revoking all former wills by me made, I declare this only
to be my last Will and Testament. In
witness whereof, I the said Ann Haigh have hereunto set my hand
this twenty seventh day of December one thousand eight hundred and
forty seven.
Signed
by the said Ann Haigh in the joint presence of us who at her request,
in her presence and in the presence of each other, have subscribed
our names as witnesses thereto.

Probate
The
seventeenth day of July 1848
Robert
Fielden, the sole executor in this will named, was sworn in common
form, and he further made an oath that the personal estate and effects
of the testatrix within the Diocese of Manchester were under the
value on one hundred pounds.
Before
me John Edwards surrogate.
The
testatrix died the 27th day of December 1847.
Probate
issued 21st July 1848
