- Having employed a child 5 weeks without registration – Penalty £2 and costs 10s.6d
- Having employed a child without a surgical certificate – Penalty £2 and costs 10.6d
- Having employed a child without school certificate – Penalty £2 and costs 10s.6d
- And for having employed her before noon and after 1p.m. on the same day, penalty £2 and costs 10s.6d.

Mr. J. E. Sutcliffe J.P. of Greenhurst hey entertained upwards of 120 of his employees to tea in the Co-operative Hall, Dale Street, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of entrance upon the works that Messrs Sutcliffe now occupy. During the very pleasant evening, Mr. T. E. Sutcliffe gave a brief sketch of the family, when his grandfather, the late Mr. John Sutcliffe, commenced business as cotton and worsted manufacturer at Harley House Mill.

The employees of Messrs Sutcliffe, Harley House Mill, had a social gathering at Mr. A. King’s refreshment rooms, Gandy Bridge, when Mr. T. E. Sutcliffe esq. J.P. presented Mr. Thomas Barker with a silver cruet, as the workpeople’s token of appreciation of his services as one of the tacklers at the mill for the past 10 years.

Death of Miss Ann Aspden at the residence of a niece at Cleckheaton. She was 78 years of age and was the last survivor of the rather numerous family of the late Mr. Andrew Aspden, formerly of Harley House Mill, Todmorden.
