Dennis Barren, late of the Staff of Life Inn, Barewise, near Todmorden, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for having stolen, on 21st July, from the above premises, certain brewing utensils the property of his landlords Messrs Thistlethwaite.

Thomas Stansfield of Marshall Street Lydgate, aged 9 years, accidentally killed in the yard of Mr. Thistlethwaites brewery.
